Today we went to Watoto Church! It is a huge church here in
Uganda that speaks English and I think it was made famous because of the Watoto
Children’s choir. It is a choir of kids who travel the US and all over the
world singing songs and dancing to raise money for the Watoto orphanage here in
Uganda! Anyways the choir doesn't make an appearance at church every week but the adult choir
that does sing is awesome! I love how worship here is happy and upbeat! There is
always dancing, swaying and jumping! I love to see the passion that the people
of this church have for the Lord it is so encouraging.
A word from mom:
As we arrived at Watoto we were greeted with open arms. The
church is outdoors with a covering over head and it seats about 3,000. There are
3 services. The worship time was awesome! Of course, I always get choked up
when I’m in another country and I realize how big the body of Christ is and
that it knows no national boundaries! Today we even sang some of the same songs
for worship that we do back home. They had a choir and musicians playing
guitars, drums, ect. like we do at Grace. The pastor spoke about parenting and that it
is a high calling of God to be a parent. The same sermon could have been
preached in the US. It is interesting to hear that Uganda has many of the same
struggles that we do with technology, TV, computers, schools, and raising their
children as well.
